Vector Scalar Division
Online calculator for dividing a vector by a scalar
The calculator on this page divides a vector of 2, 3 or 4 elements by a real number.
To perform your calculation, select the number of elements (3 is the default). Enter the values of the vectors and click on the 'Calculate' button.
The value 0 is assumed for empty fields.

Description of vector scalar division
Vectors can be divided by real numbers. The real number is called a scalar to distinguish it from vectors.
A vector is divided by a scalar by taking the individual elements of the vector be divided by the scalar.
\(\displaystyle\left[\matrix{a\\b\\c}\right] / x = \left[\matrix{a/ x\\b / x\\c / x}\right]\)
Example
\(\displaystyle\left[\matrix{4\\6\\8}\right]/2 = \left[\matrix{4/ 2\\6/2\\8 /2}\right] = \left[\matrix{2\\3\\4}\right]\)
