ASin - Arcsine (inverse sine)

Online calculator for calculating the angle to a sine

The calculator on this page calculates the inverse sine for real numbers. Trigonometric functions for complex numbers can be found in the complex numbers section.

To calculate, enter the value of the sine to which the angle should be calculated and click on the Calculate button. The unit of measurement for the result can be switched between degrees and radians

Input
Sine
Unit of measure

Result
Angle
Inverse sine curve
Inverse sine, scale in radians

Input

The value of the argument must be between -1 and 1.

Result

The result is given in degrees (range = -90° to +90°) or radians (range = -π/2 to +π/2). The unit of measurement used is set to degrees or radians at the top of the menu.

Description

While the sine assigns a value between -1 and 1 to an angle, the arcsine assigns values between -1 and 1 the corresponding angles again.

Example

If we calculate the sine of 30°, we get the value 0.5:

\(sin(30°) = 0.5\)

The arcsine of 0.5 results in the angle 30°:

\(\arcsin(0.5) = 30°\)
