Spherical Wedge Calculation
Calculator and formulas for calculating a spherical wedge
A spherical wedge is a portion of a ball bounded by two plane semidisks and a spherical lune (termed the wedge's base). The surface consists of a lune (boundary of the sphere) and the wedge, two semicircles with the radius of the sphere.
To calculate the spherical wedge, enter the radius of the sphere and the angle of the cutout. Then click on the 'Calculate' button

Formulas for the spherical wedge
Volume (\(\small{V}\))
\(\displaystyle V= α \cdot \frac{2}{3}· r^3\)
Lune area (\(\small{O}\))
\(\displaystyle O= 2 \cdot α \cdot r^2\)
Wedge area (\(\small{W}\))
\(\displaystyle W= π \cdot r^2 \)
Surface (\(\small{S}\))
\(\displaystyle S= O+W \)
